My Journey in Becoming A Queen’s Guide ( by T’ ng Ju Chin )

The thought of becoming a Queen’s Guide has never actually daunted upon me, until my Guru Pemimpin, Cik Low Beng Choo, strongly encouraged and persuaded me to take up this challenge.  Honestly speaking, the only reason I decided to grit my teeth and go through this journey at first, was the thought that by becoming a Queen’s Guide, my chances of getting a scholarship after my SPM examinations would be greatly heightened. Though my parents were too initially apprehensive about it, and they were particularly worried as it was my SPM year, they gave me their full support all the way and I’ve never looked back since.
Of course, as we all know, in becoming a Queen’s Guide, we have to coordinate many camps, organize a 3-month project, go through countless practical tests, not to mention the whole stack of ‘Buku Log’s that we have to complete as well. I remember I was really having a hard time juggling between all these activities alongside with my studies. There was definitely great pressure as I see most of my other friends being able to concentrate fully on their studies whereas I on the other hand had loads of tasks to be seen to.
However,  looking back now, I’m really thankful and grateful that I’ve gone through this experience of a lifetime.  Though my fellow Queen’s Guide friends and I were in great distress at that time, we never fail to smile and give ourselves a pat on the back whenever we reminisced having survive this trial. We’ve all become much more matured in our way of thinking and perspective of life. We can proudly declare now that we are an all rounder and have become more wholesome individuals.  We definitely feel that we have an edge over the other people we have and will meet as this whole experience has greatly boosted our confidence.  I now believe that having gone through this tough and arduous journey, I need no longer be that afraid or worried of any challenges or trials that may come my way in future.
Personally, I would say that the best and most wonderful thing that I’ve gained from this journey in becoming a Queen’s Guide  is my own spiritual walk with God. God has definitely used this experience to reveal so much of Himself to me, His guidance, His faithfulness and unfailing love. How His plans for me are always the number one best and I can be rest assured in His perfect love. I’m always so encouraged whenever I think about how His gracious hand was upon me throughout the whole Queen’s Guide journey.
Before I end this testimony, I would really like to take this opportunity to thank Cik Low Beng Choo from the bottom of my heart, for all her guidance and help in so many ways. Without her, I’m sure I would have never walked this path to become a Queen’s Guide, which has played a great role in shaping me to who and what I am today. To my parents as well, here’s a big, big thank you for your unfailing support and encouragement, not to mention the time and effort in fetching me around to complete my tasks. Finally, to God be all glory!
